Proper nutrition before a ride is the first step to a good workout. You need to make sure you are hydrated and fueled if you plan on pushing yourself. (And lets face it, most cyclists push themselves whenever/wherever they can and usually look for the hard road). Do you know what you should be eating, when? The type of ride you are heading out for, determines what kind of fuel your body requires. Everyone is different. Try different things and find what works best for you, not your riding buddy. Always be sure to bring backup in case your ride happens to run a little longer than planned.
